Burgers to Beat MS raises money in Lloydminster

The MS Society and A&W are teaming up in Lloydminster to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. Across Canada, $2 from every teen burger purchased will be going towards helping those who have MS all day.

According to the MS Society, Canada has one of the highest rates for MS in the world, 1 in every 385 Canadians live with the disease. MS is currently classified as an autoimmune disease which attacks the central nervous system such as the brain and spine.

Ms Society Lloydminster Manager Patty Milinthorp says the event will have a huge impact not only those suffering from MS but caregivers as well.

“That money goes to fund research for a cure, it goes to fund treatments for a better quality of life for people who live with MS every day. The program also funds local programs and services, support groups across the country and helps to fund to advocate for better support for caregivers.”

On Thursday, all five locations in Lloydminster will be set up for Burgers to Beat MS. The main festivities will take place at the Cornerstone location from 5 pm to 9 pm, it will feature a spin wheel where customers can win free burgers and the Just Kruzin car club will be there to give rides to guests. A& W Area Manager Stacey Patey says all the work put into throwing the event is worthwhile after seeing the constant support.

“When we hear the success stories of the money we have raised, how it helps and impacts their life or makes it a little bit easier, makes everything worth it for us.”
