Rent-A-Costume proceeds helping typhoon victims

Lloydminster local Joem Weinkauf started a rent-a-costume with all proceeds helping victims in the Philipines.

Weinkauf started Bottle with Love in 2015 raising money for kids hospital initiatives in Lloydminster, $20,000 was raised going towards 6 children. This year she decided to rent out costumes in order to help people in areas hit by Typhoon Mangkhut.  Weinkauf believes this will raise awareness of how the Border City can help the Philipines.

“At least in the Philipines, they know that Lloydminster, the only border city in Canada thinks about them. The population of Philipinos here [in Lloydminster] is more than 10 per cent.”

Weinkauf is a Senior Financial consultant for Sunlife. She is using her platform in the community by holding the rentals at the Sunlife/Canada assist offices. Weinkauf has lived in Lloydminster for 18 years and says she loves giving back to the community.

” I am really amazed with the people of Lloydminster they have a big heart and always give. It’s really amazing.”

Money raised is going to two churches in the Philipines which includes the First Baptist Church. Weinkauf says anyone willing to lend bottles or costumes towards the cause can come by the Sunlife office. Costumes are $10 each with a $20 deposit that will be refunded when the costumes are returned.
