UPDATE: Battlefords RCMP looking for owners of stolen property

UPDATE: RCMP is asking people to follow guidelines after the overwhelming response to stolen property.

First, attendĀ in person between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. If someone can’t make it between those hours, RCMP ask to drop off a list of stolen items.

Second, people should only call the detachmentĀ to claim property if they have specific details such as serial number.

Lastly, if someone is claiming property thatĀ has not been reported stolen they have to make a report first and this can only be done in person.

A large assortment of stolen property has been recovered by the Battlefords RCMP through various property crime investigations. The stolen items include bicycles, tools, yard equipment and personal property.

Police are unable to match the property with the people who have had it stolen and therefore are asking anyone who has had itemsĀ stolen to come by the RCMP station. The detachmentĀ says in order to retrieve the items people have to specifically describe it or identify it through serial or model numbers.

A file number will be given to anyone wanting their stolen items back and will also need to provide a valid ID. The items will stay in police custody for 90 days from when they come into possession and after that time will be donated to a local charity for publicĀ auction.
