Two arrested after Friday morning police pursuit

Maidstone RCMP have arrested two men after multiple cars were stolen in the area.

Police responded to call Friday morning after an abandoned car was found in the RM of Wilton. While there, an officer came across another suspicious vehicle, which had been reported stolen. The vehicle was not chased however because it sped through a construction zone, and police believed it would endanger the public.

The vehicle was later abandoned as well, and the two suspects allegedly stole a truck and trailer. The trailer was left behind a short time later, and with the help of the Britannia Rural Crime Watch RCMP were able to find the truck again.

The truck was eventually stopped after driving over two spike strips and running the rubber off the tires. The suspects then fled on foot. One was arrested without resisting, the other was taken down with a taser.

Two men, a 41-year-old and a 21-year-old, are facing several weapons, theft and dangerous driving charges from multiple jurisdictions.

Both will appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court Tuesday morning.
