UPDATE: Plantlife says that their doors will not be open October .26 due to supplies not coming in from the AGLC. Regional Manager Tyler Stiger says after discussing with AGLC, they will 100 per cent have their doors open at 10 am on Tuesday.

Lloydminster gets the full legalization experience as Plantlife opens their doors. The cannabis retailer looks to be the first store to open up in the Border City.
According to the AGLC, Plantlife is the only retailer on the Alberta side to receive an interim license. Around seven total licenses are currently being processed to open in Lloydminster. This will be Plantlife’s first store opening up with 15 planned across Alberta.
Regional Manager Tyler Stiger says they’re getting ready for the possible influx of people on opening day.
“We’ve had calls coming in from Cold Lake and surrounding areas. They’re all very excited about coming down and potentially getting their hands on the product they’ve been waiting for and patiently. We are very happy to entertain as many people as we possibly can and try to give them the best possible service at the same time.”
Plantlife is aiming for the grand opening to be tomorrow at 5 pm due to the product arriving earlier in the day. For the foreseeable future, regular hours will be 10 am – 2 am, 7 days a week. Stiger says the government process has been the biggest hurdle in opening the store.
“That’s just because they’ve been dealing with supply and demand issues from their own suppliers, so that has been a little bit of a runaround, to say the least. They have done nothing but cooperate with us to the best of their abilities whenever possible.”
Stiger says their mission is to provide a safe and trustworthy environment for customers.
“We’re the tip of the spear for the end of prohibition. When I sit back and think about what that actually means, I think that it is a monumental time in Canadian history and I think that for all of us here at Plantlife Canada being involved in something so monumental is leaving a dramatic footprint in the community that you’re involved in.”
