Romanians selling fake gold were apprehended by RCMP in Wainwright. The travelling scam artists would offer to sell people gold jewelry to get gas money to return home. The rings and chains would turn out to be fake gold costume jewelry. By representing the items to be real gold the group was committing a fraud. Two men and two women from Scarborough Ontario were arrested by police with officers determining the group was making up between one and two thousand dollars a day. RCMP are reminding the public that this type of crime is very popular during the summer months and criminals usually target kind Albertans that want to help. If anyone has encountered this type of fraud they are asked to contact RCMP.
