Friendship Centre in need of winter wear

The Lloydminster Friendship Centre is need of winter clothing donations. Executive Director Bonnie Start says the centre has run out of warm clothing to give those braving the current cold snap.

“Being outside without anything on your hands or head at this time of year is pretty dangerous, and it puts people at risk and it doesn’t take very long, a matter of seconds, and you can get frostbite.”

Start says around four people per day come into the centre looking for winter wear. She adds that the centre received a government grant at the beginning of fall that went towards clothing needs, but they have run out.

“It’s important that we all have warm winter clothes, and we like to help people out as much as we can, and we certainly don’t like to see people coming into the centre or leaving centre without warm winter wear.”

Anyone that is looking to donate winter clothing such as mittens and toques can bring them to the Lloydminster Friendship Centre at 4602 49 Ave.
