Lloydminster RCMP release results of August long weekend check stop

Lloydminster RCMP say their August long weekend checkstop was a success.

The police held the checkstop at the north end of the city for two hours at the intersection of 50 Avenue and 67 Street on Saturday, August 1, looking for drunk or impaired drivers.

In total, the RCMP gave out 15 tickets – 2 impaired drivers, 1 suspended driver, 2 impaired by drug suspensions, 1 prohibited driver, 3 no insurance tickets, 3 expired license plates, 3 speeding tickets. The police also executed 11 warrants.

“Despite all the available education, increased penalties and RCMP enforcement, certain individuals continue to place the general public at risk by driving impaired,”  said Constable Edwin Smith of the Lloydminster Traffic Section. “If you see an impaired driver call 911 immediately.”
