Lakeland Conservative candidate Shannon Stubbs kicks off election campaign

The Conservative candidate for the constituency of Lakeland has kicked off her campaign.

Shannon Stubbs was nominated to run for the riding in December. She is well-experienced in the political arena, having run twice before provincially with the Wildrose Party, and has even served as former leader Danielle Smith’s chief of staff. Stubbs says she wants to promote local interests at the federal level.

“I’ve lived in Lakeland for most of my life,” Stubbs said. “I believe with every fibre of my being that Lakeland is one of the most important constituencies in the country, because of the economic contributions we make both to Alberta, but also to Canada because of the activity in our agriculture and energy sectors… And I know that the federal Conservatives and Prime Minister Stephen Harper value Alberta’s contributions to Canada, and it’s extremely important I think for Lakeland to send a member of parliament to Ottawa who will assert and promote Alberta and Lakeland’s contribution to Canada.”

Stubbs also says her background in the oil and agriculture businesses has given her a better understanding of the issues facing the constituency.

The date of the election is October 19th.
