Lloydminster ground zero for energy sector crisis: MP Stubbs

Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs says she is fully behind the Lloydminster oil and gas rally happening next month. It’s slated for February 6th at the Alberta Building of the Lloydminster Exhibition

“I have no doubt that there will be a huge turn out in Lloydminster at that rally because Lloydminster is one of those places that is ground zero for the crisis in the energy sector.”

Stubbs won’t be able to make it as she’ll be in parliament but says she plans to help promote the rally. The MP says the rallies were a highlight of 2018 for her, saying she’s been blown away by the amount of support for pipelines across the country.

“Most of the people who are going out to the protests and to those rallies now, they’ve never protested for anything in their lives because working or running their businesses, raising their families, volunteering in their communities but it is really important that they ensure that their voices are heard.”

UCP leader Andrew Scheer joined Stubbs during the Nisku truck convoy and pro-pipeline rally on December 19th.She maintains it’s important for people to keep the pressure on the federal government to advocate against the lack of pipelines and Bill C-69.

“Energy is the number one private sector investor in the Canadian economy and is Canada’s  second biggest export. It allows for hospitals and schools to be built, it funds pensions, it supports Canada’s high standard of living and literally every single community in the country, it’s so important.”

Stubbs says she is in talks with the organizers of the Support Canadian Oil and Gas Industry Lloydminster Rally about how she can have a letter read during the event.
