The Lloydminster Rescue Squad is looking to recruit some new volunteers.
Applicants will need a valid class 5 drivers license and first aid with CPR level C. The Rescue Squad will provide successful applicants with training for things like vehicle extrication, ice and water rescue, and search and rescue. Those chosen will also need to be open-minded and the ability to keep composure in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
Deputy Chief of the Rescue Squad, Ryan LeBlanc, says volunteerism has been hard to find the past few years. He thinks it’s an issue not just with their own organization but something that could be industry-wide.
“We’re struggling to find volunteers, and I think it’s an industry-wide struggle. I think most departments across the province have been struggling to find volunteers. It’s certainly something that we’ve noticed for sure,” says LeBlanc.
LeBlanc says that the Rescue Squad feels and values the support given by the community, their partners and sponsors.
