EADRCRU assisted by Onion Lake and Lloydminster RCMP arrest six

A joint effort from Onion Lake RCMP and other detachments including Lloydminster resulted in the arrestĀ of six people who had been stealing vehicles and escaping police in Fishing Lake.

On Wednesday,Ā the Eastern Alberta DistrictĀ Rural Crime Reduction Unit planned an operation to find the suspects. A spike strip was used to bring down the vehicle but with two flat tires, it still refused to stop.Ā Cold Lake Police Dog Services, and Alberta RCMP Air Services were also involvedĀ in helping to stop the stolen vehicle

Onion Lake RCMP and Saskatchewan Crime Reduction Team members responded to assist once it was evident the vehicle was heading to the Saskatchewan border on Highway 641. Police sayĀ when RCMP members followed the vehicle as it crossed into Saskatchewan, a person in the vehicle started pointing what was believed to be a firearm at officers.

The vehicle was immobilized by EADRCRU. Onion Lake detachment, both Crime Reduction Units, andĀ Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services immediately contained the scene and were able to arrest all six individuals in the vehicle without further incident.

RCMP has yet to release names of the suspects. Information will be released as it comes in.
