Eat poutine guilt free in support for Big Brother Big Sisters

For the next week, Lloydminster residents can enjoy poutines guilt free to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lloydminster.

Local chefs from seven different restaurants across the Border City have created a signature dish for BBBS’s Poutine Week from April 11-18. BBBS  fundraising coordinator Lisa Shendaruk says residents can vote for their favourite poutine through social media.

“You order a poutine, take a picture of yourself eating the poutine. You can tag us on Instagram and Facebook at BBBS Lloydminster, twitter at BigLloydminster and use #PoutineWeekYLL and of course include the restaurant that you’re at.”

One restaurant will also be crowned the Gravy Bowl champion for selling the most poutines throughout the week. The contestants include Maggie Mae’s, Bo’Diddley’s, Umami Cuisine, Rusty’s Grille and Lounge, Cedar Kabob, Original Joe’s, and the Lloydminster Exhibition Grill.

“I am so excited. We’ve had such tremendous feedback from the community and the restaurants. We have incredible, local chef talent in this community, and they were so excited to create a signature dish for this week.”

Three dollars from every unique poutine purchased will go towards BBBS’s child mentoring programs. Shendaruk says unique events and community partnerships are vital to BBBS.

“We’re so grateful that we have so many restaurants and businesses that are willing to partner with us. I think it is a win/win situation across the board.”
