Councillor Fagnan to be parade marshal at Colonial Days

City councillor Glenn Fagnan has been named the Honorary Parade Marshal for the Colonial Days Parade. The parade kicks off the colonial days fair, running this year from July 10-13 at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds.

Lloydminster Exhibition Association says that Fagnan was chosen for his many years he’s dedicated to the community. Throughout the 30 years he’s been here, Fagnan has been chairman of The Olive Tree board, and currently sits on it as a board member. He’s also been a member of the Lloydminster Rotary Club for twenty-nine years and previously served as club president.

Fagnan has been involved in a number of special events here in the Border City, including both the Saskatchewan Summer Games and Alberta Summer Games. Currently, one of his roles is the executive director of Border City Connects Society, formerly known as the Lloydminster Handivan Society. Fagnan says that he’s enjoyed his time in the city, thanks in part to the volunteers he’s worked beside.

“There are lots of great people, lots of great volunteers, that I’ve been so fortunate to work with, get involved with. It’s always been a lot of fun to make a difference in the community, and it’s certainly not myself; it’s many others I work alongside with, that encourage me and encourage each other,” says Fagnan.

This year’s theme for the fair is called “Catch the Fair Fever!” The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10.
