New Maidstone grain elevator to provide fast service for local farmers

Many local farmers along with honourable guests such as Battlefords-Lloydminster MP Rosemarie Falk gathered to take a peek at the new G3 grain elevator in Maidstone. The company had its grand opening for the new grain elevator on Wednesday.

The modern grain elevator features fast truck unloads, a railway loop track that can quickly load a 150-car train. G3 Maidstone General Manager Bert Benoit says the new grain elevator will save farmers time.

“It will save them a lot of miles down the highways to further facilities they’ve been delivering to in the past. Our facility is lighting fast. The turnaround for producers when they bring their grain in will be quick so it will get them back out to the fields for harvest or save them some time when delivering grain so that they can attend to other things.”

The facility is located on CN rail in order to provide good access to the market and to the G3 terminal in Vancouver when it opens in 2020. G3 has a network of facilities across Canada to help local farmers to market out their grain in a timely fashion to meet their cash flow needs.

“It’s also really good for the community here because as we bring customers into Maidstone from local areas, it’s going to help local businesses. We’re already seeing some that,” says Benoit

G3 has five more elevators currently under construction in Alberta, with one due to open this year and the rest in 2020.
