Vermilion RCMP arrest three suspected copper wire thieves

Vermillion RCMP has arrested and charged three individuals for theft after a tip from the public of suspicious activity. An investigation led police to an oil lease site that had been broken into and damaged during a copper wire theft. The damages are estimated at $85,000 but are expected to rise according to police.

RCMP reported to the call near Range Road 80 and Highway 619. Officers were then assisted by residents to an off-road location near Range Road 91 and Township Road 490 where a stolen pick up truck was found. Three people were taken into custody and two were transported to a hospital to treat dog bites after Police Dog Services was called in.

24-year-old Paige Tkachuk, 38-year-old Ken Thomas and 46-year-old Dallas van den Driessche face a combined 12 charges including theft over $5000. At the time of Thomas and van den Driessche’s arrest, they were both wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
