Chance of snowfall in Lloydminster this weekend

Lloydminster could see snow this weekend.

A low-pressure system in the northern United States is bringing snowfall to parts of the southern prairies. Kyle Fougere, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, is forecasting flurries and showers on Saturday and Monday.

“Monday is the day where there’s potential for snow in Lloydminster and by Tuesday it should clear out. The temperatures should rebound a bit but it’s still expected to stay a little bit below normal.”

Fougere says Lloydminster is on the edge of the system and will be seeing lower than average temperatures.

“As the low is developing today into tomorrow temperatures are going to drop. It’s going to be much cooler over the next several days than it has been for most of this month.”

The average daytime high for this time of year is 15 but Fougere doesn’t expect next week’s weather to hit that high. Fougere says, by Wednesday, people should expect daytime highs to be in the 10 to 12 range while overnight lows continue to be below zero.

Fougere also warns travellers heading south to watch out for poor travel conditions and to keep an eye out for weather advisories.
