Thanksgiving weekend has RCMP officers preparing

Lloydminster RCMP will be watching roads this long weekend.

Operation Impact 2019 will have RCMP officers patrolling roads across Alberta.

Thanksgiving weekend, October 11 to 14, Canadian Association of Chiefs of Alberta is the annual awareness campaign to promote safe driving behaviors.

Main points the Alberta RCMP wants to remind people of are; stay focused on the road, follow traffic signs and posted speed limits, drive sober and make sure every rider has their seat belts buckled in the car.

Over last year’s Thanksgiving weekend, there were three fatalities, and over 50 injuries in 410 accidents in Alberta.

The Alberta RCMP says they will continue to work with Alberta Sheriffs and other partners to ensure Albertans make the right driving decisions.
