Battleford RCMP arrest suspected armed robber

Battlefords RCMP has arrested a 29-year-old man who is facing charges for armed robbery.

Police responded to the call on October 9th near 110th Street and Diefenbaker Drive in North Battleford.RCMP says the situation began when 29-year-old asked a driver and his passenger for a ride across the city.

After agreeing to give the man a ride,  he then pulled out a knife and handgun demanding the people in the vehicle exit. The victims gave the man their belongings and then he drove off. Neither the driver or passenger was hurt during the theft.

Battlefords RCMP and the  North Battleford Crime Reduction Team arrested David Soonias of Moosomin First Nation on October 10th. He faces ten charges including the use of firearms while committing a robbery.

He appears in Battleford Provincial Court on October 11th. Mounties say further charges may be added due to other investigations.
