Lloydminster Bobcats add two players to lead team offense

The Lloydminster Bobcats are adding two new faces to the roster. The team acquired Lloydminster native Jaxan Kaluski and have traded Ryley Hogan for Brendan Morrow.

Kaluski previously played over 90 games in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds and picked up 6 goals and 13 assists with them last season. Head coach Nigel Dube thinks Kaluski will be a big addition to the team and will be taking a leadership role as one of the two 20-year-old players.

“We continue to stick to our long term blueprint and as an organization as we turn things around and recreate a culture with the Bobcats,” Dube says. “With Jaxan we knew we were getting a championship human and a guy that will be good with teaching our young guys the way. On the ice, he’ll be contributing offensively and be a 200 foot player for us that’ll log some big minutes and play in all situations.”

Morrow played for the Calgary Canucks before the trade and was able to net 2 goals and 2 assists this season. Dube says he’s looking to add more offence to the team and believes both players will help.

“He comes to us as a 19-year-old third-year junior hockey player and brings a right-hand shot for us upfront which we need one more of.”

The new players have a week to train with the team before their first back-to-back home games against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on October 25 and 26.
