Business Gala deemed a success

The Chamber of Commerce’s Business Gala has been deemed a success.

The gala has been held for since 1993, to reward businesses that have had a positive impact on the community.

Among those honoured was Keith Weinbender, for the Lifetime Achievement Award. He says he’s grateful for the recognition.

“It’s a humbling experience,” Weinbender said. “When you look at the recipients that have received [this award] in the last number of years, I have known a number of them, and look up to those people – most of them are my mentors. [I] never ever dreamed that I’d be on the receiving end of one. So, like I said, it’s humbling and it’s a beautiful honour.”

Vivid Hair and Aesthetics was the big winner of the night, winning both Entrepreneur of the Year and Business of the Year. Co-owner Rheanne Thackeray says family is paramount to her business.

“Obviously, our business is family run,” Thackeray said. “For us, family’s the most important thing. Our parents are involved in the business [as well as] my two sisters and I, so basically we don’t really do anything apart from each other… All decisions are made together, and we run as a team.”

Other winners at the gala include:

Michele Charles Gustafson – Community Spirit Award

McCaw Funeral Services – Integrity Award

Can-Do Auto & Lube – Customer Service Award

Decorator’s Den – Small Business of the Year

Lloydminster Sexual Assault and Infortmation Centre – Non-Profit of the Year
