The Lloydminster Little Theatre Players are a week away from introducing their first fall production since 2016.
The community theatre group will be performing the comedy Office Hours. The play is written by the acclaimed Canadian playwright Norm Foster and follows the lives of several different people in a city, all connected by a man on a ledge.
“There are six stories that happen in six scenes that comprise the play. In every scene, there are some common elements. Every scene talks a little bit about a jumper out on the ledge in the big city,” says Director Cornelius Krahn.
Krahn says 15 different actors of different experience levels are a part of the play and they’re all excited for the first show.
“They’ve put in a lot of extra time and effort in memorizing lines and getting their costumes just right and understanding who their character is that they are playing. They’re excited to show everybody just how funny this play is.”
Krahn says the Players are building on the success of their summer shows and is trying to get a regular fall show in place. The performance group held a collection of one-act plays in June at the Black Box Theatre for the Arts Without Borders Festival.
“Theatre can grow in Lloydminster. There’s definitely an opportunity for it. Theatre is important for everybody, it’s important for the actors and artists involved but it’s also important for the audience. It’s a way to experience somebody else’s story but live and in-person.”
Performances will be held at the College Park School Theatre.
The Players will have a preview night on November 21 with tickets at a reduced price of $10. The show then runs every Friday to Sunday from November 22 to December 1. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday while matinee Sundays begin at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets for the regular dates can be found on the Little Theatre Players website or at the Vic Juba Theatre at a cost of $20 per ticket.
