Table Mountain opens a third of trails this weekend

Despite the unfavourable weather, Table Mountain opens part of its hill this weekend.

General Manager Lawrence Blouin says about a third of the terrain will be available for the grand opening. He says the first week of December is the average timeframe for when the hill opens each year.

“The last two years we have opened on the first. I have opened as late as the 21st of December so right it’s in the middle. It’s not a real early opening nor is it really late.”

Blouin says preparing the hill for the season has been tough due to the lack of cold weather. He is aiming for the hill to be fully operational by December 14th, weather permitting.

“This weekend we got some snowmaking in but in between then we got some [plus 10 degree days] and whatever else. [According to the forecast,] it looks as if we will be back making snow again on Saturday and then it will be cold for the next four to five days.”

The hill, located near North Battleford, will have two lifts open on December 7th and 8th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
