Six Raiders players move into final Team Alberta selection camp

The athletes face one more round in the selection process to be a part of Team Alberta’s U18 and U17 team.

Offensive linemen Lucas Seffern and Clay Vetter, defensive lineman Chaztyn Walker, linebacker Josh Chapelski and defensive backs Rylan Feist and Dylan Orieux from the Holy Rosary Raiders took part in Football Alberta’s annual Superweekend Selection Camp. They will go through the final round in the selection process in Calgary from April 3 to 5.

“To have six kids move on, it’s exciting. We had three others there that didn’t make it but they competed hard and there’s always something to learn from a camp like that,” says coach Vince Orieux.

“Last year, we had one on the U18 team and four on the U17 and they came back better football players. The more kids we can have represent our school at the provincial level where they can experience higher competition, it’s just going to make our program better,” he added.

Those that make it on the U18 team will compete in the Football Canada Cup this July in Vancouver. Meanwhile, the U17 team will go to a developmental camp in Maui during August.

370 athletes from all over the province took part in the Superweekend with 142 of them making it to the next camp.
