Lloydminster can celebrate Family Day with Sask. free fishing weekend

Lloydminster residents can become anglers for a weekend with Saskatchewan’s annual free fishing weekend. The Family Day weekend event takes place from February 15-17 with no licence required.

Environment Minister Dustin Duncan says every year the weekend event sees around 250,000 anglers participating.

“Free fishing weekend is a perfect opportunity to get outside with family and friends to enjoy our province’s natural resources.”

The Ministry of Environment reminds anglers to always put safety first when going out on the ice. Use caution and common sense, including testing ice thickness before travelling on it.

Any residents or visitors to the province can fish on any body of water that has an open sport fishing season. All other regulations remain in effect, including possession limits and reduced limits on some lakes and rivers.

The weekend festivities don’t apply to national parks, plus anyone taking fish out of the province must purchase a license.
