Border City Connects reduces services amid virus concerns

Border City Connects will be cutting down on some of their services as many of their clientele are those vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus.

Director Glenn Fagnan says many of their clients were students who no longer need rides to school or are seniors who are being advised to avoid public areas.

“A lot of our clients are some of the most susceptible folks within the community so we just need to be very mindful and very careful on how everything is handled.”

The organization is taking the necessary steps and are sanitizing the busses to protect against the virus, however, will only be transporting the elderly on an emergency basis or medical needs.

“We normally don’t get a whole lot of people at once so it’s very easy to control and keep it in one area like when they come up through the stairs or through the gate. We’ll mitigate people sitting all over the place and try and keep it confined to certain areas and do the proper wipedowns.”

He says they are working with the Olive Tree to drive clients to pick up their meals and is willing to expand partnerships with other organizations around the city.

“We’re going to try and be available for any other organizations that need transportation. We would certainly be more than happy to work with them and provide that.”
