Eight new COVID-19 cases, eight recoveries in Saskatchewan

The last 24 hours have seen an equal amount of new COVID-19 cases and recoveries across Saskatchewan.

Seven of these new cases are in the Far North Zone, which has recently been affected by an outbreak. The province has responded by placing a restriction on non-essential travel within the affected area and increasing testing in the area.

The Saturday update puts COVID-19 numbers across the province at 57 active cases of 349 reported. Recoveries are now at 288. There are four people hospitalized, two in the ICU and two receiving inpatient care. In the North Zone, housing the Lloydminster area, cases are at six active, one inpatient hospitalization and 56 considered recovered.

Of the 349 cases in the province:
•       138 cases are travel-related
•       146 are contacts or linked to mass gatherings
•       34 have no known exposures
•       31 are under investigation by local public health.

COVID-19 test numbers in Saskatchewan are 27,232 performed, with 25, 352 negative results.
