Alberta continues to flatten the COVID-19 curve as the number of active cases continues to drop.
There are now 1,211 active cases in the province and about 79 per cent of total cases have recovered. The total number of recoveries is now up to 5,076.
The province also confirmed another 62 cases since Tuesday’s update and another two deaths. There has been 120 deaths related to COVID-19 in Alberta.
There are currently 70 people in the hospital and 11 of them are in the intensive care unit.
One more case was moved out of the Central zone making the total number of cases 97 in the zone. There remains two active cases in the County of Vermilion River as well as three recoveries. There is one recovery in the MD of Wainwright.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced there has been an outbreak at the Horizon work camp in Northern Alberta as five positive cases have been confirmed at the camp.
Over 195,000 tests with another 4,000 processed in the past 24 hours.
Premier Jason Kenney announced stage one of the reopening plan will go ahead tomorrow in most of the province. Due to a high number of COVID-19 cases, Calgary and Brooks will have a delayed start. Businesses listed in stage one for both cities will be spread out over the course of two weeks.
The Alberta reopening plan does not apply for Lloydminster businesses as city officials say the city is following the Saskatchewan Re-opening Plan.
