Onion Lake man facing stolen vehicle charges

Kitscoty RCMP are charging an Onion Lake man after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

Mounties were called to the vehicle stuck in a ditch near Range Road 15 and Township Road 504 in the County of Vermilion River on May 13. A man was seen leaving the vehicle and running into the nearby bushes.

RCMP confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Lloydminster the day before and set up a containment area with the help of Lloydminster and Vermilion RCMP.

Jade Alexander Whitstone was found in a field and taken into custody without incident. The 28-year-old is facing possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, operating a conveyance while prohibited and failing to comply with an undertaking charges.

He was released and is set to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 21, 2020.
