SHA ends COVID-19 outbreak warning at La Loche Health Centre

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is declaring a COVID-19 outbreak at the La Loche Health Centre ended.

The outbreak was declared on April 7th, and the SHA says the standard 28 day monitoring period has passed without a new positive case of COVID-19 in long term care.

Medical Health Officer for the Far North Dr. Rim Zayed says despite the outbreak being declared over, health precautions are still in place, including extensive door to door testing, mobile testing, and increased contact tracing.

Work with health professionals and local leaders in the area to curb COVID-19’s spread in the Far North is ongoing.

In the meantime, the SHA is advising residents to keep up healthy habits such as handwashing, physical distancing and self-isolating, when necessary. People with concerns about COVID-19 or their health can call Healthlink 8-1-1.
