Saskatchewan is amending the Far North travel ban to just the northwest part of the province.
Starting May 19th, commercial, domestic or recreational travel to a part of the far north is allowed, provided it follows provincial re-opening guidelines. Not all towns will have restrictions lifted, however.
The communities listed below are still under a travel ban to reduce the risk of more COVID-19 cases in the area. This list is set to be updated based on further health authority investigation.
Checkpoints are still in place to make sure necessary goods can get to and from the area.
In the latest Saskatchewan Health Authority numbers, there are seven new cases; Four in Beauval and three in La Loche. There have also been fifteen recoveries in the last 24 hours. This brings the numbers to 123 active cases of 599 reported. Total recoveries are now at 470, or 78% of confirmed cases.
Five people remain in hospital, one each in Regina and Saskatoon, and three in the ICU, all in Saskatoon.
In the North Zone, active cases are at ten, and there have been 95 recoveries from the disease.
Across Saskatchewan, there have been 41,606 COVID-19 tests performed.
