Saskatchewan has set June 12th, 2020 as the day for parks and beaches to re-open in the province.
While this means the outdoor facilities will be accessible to the public again, it comes with a set of guidelines for both.
When it comes to outdoor parks and playgrounds, physical distancing of two meters is still in place for people not from the same home or extended household, avoiding overcrowding at a park and frequent handwashing and sanitizing is strongly urged. Masks are not mandatory but are suggested if physical distancing proves difficult,
Adults and kids are also encouraged to only visit parks close to home, in order to limit the number of new people they come into contact on the visit. Crews will also need to maintain a rigorous cleaning standard for outdoor equipment, and have access to cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment.
For beaches, many of the same standards are in place. People from different groups must maintain a physical distance of two metres outdoors, indoors, on the beach and in the water. Towels and beach gear should be set up with four metres between groups to allow physical distancing for everyone.
It’s recommended that people sanitize common items such as picnic tables before using them. Outdoor shower facilities and washrooms will be open, but indoor shower and change facilities remain closed.
In both cases, large events should still not go on and toys and equipment should not be shared.
