Neilburg man hits lottery jackpot

Terry Simon will be able to spend quite a bit more time at the lake soon.

The Neilburg man recently hit the $3 million jackpot on the Saskatchewan Lottery Zing! ticket.  Simon, who had a long-standing playstyle of not fully scratching the ticket off before scanning it, thought he’d only won $3,000 before realizing he’d hit the big numbers. Still inside the store, he called his son and let him know the news.

“I told him ‘the farm’s paid for. I just won $3 million,’” Simon told SaskLotteries. “And he said ‘wow’ – well…not ‘wow,’ but this is the PG version.”

Simon says he’ll share some of the money with his family, and help a few people he knows needing a helping hand. Beyond that, he says more time will be spent at the lake, perhaps with a nicer boat and truck.

The winning ticket was scanned at the Shell station on Lloydminster’s Alberta side.
