Saskatchewan RCMP says the death of a mother and her two children in North Battleford was a murder-suicide.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit it did an extensive investigation into the June 4th fire in the 1400 block of 99th Street. It’s reported emergency responders found the body of a 39-year-old woman outside the house when they arrived.
Police received reports that the woman was carried out of the house by her common-law partner, who allegedly arrived moments before responders. Investigators say the fire started in the basement but smoke spread throughout the house. Once firefighters were able to get inside they found the bodies of the two children.
Over the past week, officers say they conducted more than 30 interviews with witnesses and residents of the area. Autopsies were performed on June 8th and 9th.
RCMP believe Tammy Fiddler is responsible for the deaths of the seven and 11-year-old children.
“Our thoughts are with the surviving members of the family and we continue to provide as much assistance as we can through our Victim Services Unit,” RCMP say.
The investigation is still ongoing.
