Lloydminster man charged with sexual assault

A Lloydminster man is facing charges related to a sexual assault in the city.

Around 8 PM on June 24th, police received a call from a woman who had been sexually assaulted while walking in the 39 Street and 55 Avenue area. The suspect allegedly made sexual comments to the victim and touched her without consent, before she was able to escape the area.

Police have charged Emerie Penner, 34, with sexual assault, assault, obtaining sexual services for consideration, corrupting morals and disturbing the peace.

Some of Penner’s charges stem from two other incidents. The first happened on June 8th, when police were called after a man was suspected to be following a woman through Bud Miller Park.

The second, on June 10th, happened in the area of 27th Street and 57th Avenue. A woman was allegedly stopped by the man, who showed her a pornographic image on his phone before she was able to get help from someone nearby.

Penner was released by a Justice of the Peace, and will appear in Lloydminster’s Alberta Provincial Court on July 28, 2020.
