Lloyd Co-op planning new gas station opening for late August

A new gas station on the city’s north side will soon be celebrating its grand opening.

Lloydminster and District Co-op is expecting to open the North Stop Co-op Gas Bar in late August. The station is at the intersection of 62 Street and 50 Avenue and will have two full and two self-serve pump islands, a total of eight pumps at the station.

Lloyd Co-op Vice President of Operations Chase Scarf says construction is nearly complete and the company is excited to bring another gas station to the community.

“They’re finishing up [construction] and they’ve got some paving to do and some finishing touches. Musgrave Agencies has been a great partner and they’re finishing up right on schedule.”

The building will also house a new Tim Hortons which is set to open in early September. The Tim Hortons will be managed by owner-operator Kristine Whitney. Scarf anticipates both services will create 50 new jobs in Lloydminster.

“We pride ourselves on being a community builder and we’re excited to add some more to our team and get people working.”

“It brings something positive to the community during these COVID times and we’re excited to create up to 50 jobs in us and our Tim Hortons neighbour. We’re looking forward to getting open and serving our membership,” he adds.

Once the gas bar opens, the staff will be following provincial health guidelines with distance markers on the floors, increased sanitization, plexiglass shields and other precautionary measures.
