Saskatchewan has once again expanded the Temporary Wage Supplement Program, which is providing a financial boost to workers helping the province’s most vulnerable.
The government has recently reassessed the program and opened up eligibility for the wage top-up. It’s been expanded to include all workers, regardless of income level, at integrated healthcare facilities which provide both short-term and long-term health care. Previously, the program was only open to workers making less than $24 dollars an hour or $2,500 a month.
Now, workers at all personal, group or special care homes, home care workers and employees at emergency and transition shelters are eligible as well, among others. The benefit will be provided to full-time, part-time and casual workers. Third-party workers are not eligible.
The wage supplement is $400 per worker for each four week period between March 15th, 2020 and July 4th. In total, this makes up 16 weeks.
The Provincial Government is currently working on a new application for the Temporary Wage Supplement Program, which will be open until September 1st. That and all eligibility requirements can be found on Saskatchewan’s website.
