The Lloydminster Bandits holding fundraiser for local men’s shelter

The Lloydminster Bandits are gearing up to Pack the Bus once again.

With the help of the community, the Lloydminster Classic Oilfield Bandits Junior B hockey team is aiming to fill a bus, provided by Tibear Bus Lines, at their home game Friday, December 18, with donations of necessities for men staying at the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter.

For its fourth year, the bus will be parked at the Centennial Civic Centre at 7:30 p.m. (a half hour before game time), until 10p.m. If you miss the chance to help Pack the Bus, the Men’s Shelter always welcomes drop-off donations and also accepts leftovers, according to the Bandits’ General Manager, Greg Buchanan.

“They take food donations. So if you’re having a lot of food at Christmas time and you have turkey, and you’re going to have turkey sandwiches for the next four weeks, any leftover food, they’ll take it,” says Buchanan.

The fundraiser is looking for donations of non-perishable food items, gently-used clothing, especially winter attire, and cash donations.
