Lloyd SPCA gets helping hand from several local businesses

The Lloydminster and District SPCA has received a helping hand towards several beautification projects, and the donation of some C-Cans.

Over the past couple of weeks,  Store Right and Don’s Bottle Depot donated the C-Cans, while Western Canadian Spill Services donated a trailer to the shelter. Bry-Tan Trucking, PCM, Feldspar, Border City Concrete and GLM Oilfield helped install the cans.

Not only will this make more space in the shelter and help cut the clutter, but SPCA Outreach Manager Becca Lawerence also says it will cut down on thefts they’ve experienced of their recycles and donated items.

“Our food was something over kind of in our front yard, in the white shed, and it just kept getting broken into. We love to help whenever we can when someone needs a bag of food, but people going in and taking what they want to was becoming an issue.”

The C-Cans have been placed in camera range so the SPCA has an easier time keeping an eye on them. GT Property Maintenance and Craftex Builders also stepped up to beautify the grounds surrounding the SPCA, and move the existing white shed to a new area.

Lawerence adds that the SCPA is thankful for these businesses’ support, and everyone else who helps the SPCA.

“Our community has come together for us, in giving us a hand when we need it the most. So that’s something that obviously we just really, really appreciate. It was something that couldn’t have gotten done without the help of our community.”

People can find more information on donations and the shelter’s adoption programs on the Lloydminster and District SPCA’s website.
