Lloydminster couple take home lotto jackpot

A Lloydminster couple has a reason to celebrate after taking home their prize for an April 11th lottery win.

Larry and Gloria Lewis bought the Lotto 6/49 ticket back in April at Lloydminster’s Westend Esso. They hit five of the six numbers, taking home a total of $170,00o. After cashing in the ticket, Larry remarked that the win came as a surprise.

“The cashier said ‘I think you won $170,000 sir,’ and I just stood there trembling,”

Despite winning back in April, the couple decided to hold off collecting the prize, because they wanted to do it in person when lottery offices re-opened. These offices were closed to prevent the risk of COVID-19 transmission for staff and winners.

From here, Larry and Gloria Lewis say they have pretty straightforward plans for their winnings, which include paying down their mortgage and putting some cash into their savings.
