3rd Annual Run for Lloydminster pushed into next year

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is postponing their 3rd annual Run For Lloydminster due to the pandemic.

Imam Mansoor Azeem says they are acting responsibly and they don’t want to see an outbreak of COVID-19 coming from the event. He also mentions the run is largely supported by local residents and businesses who may not be able to give at the moment.

“Some businesses are shutting down. In this scenario, to go there and ask for funds, the community is very appreciative and I know they will be able to help, but that would be a huge sacrifice that we don’t want to ask for right now.”

He says they will focus on community efforts such as the cleanup Highway 16 as part of the “Adopt a Highway” program and their Helping Neighbours campaign.

“Our youth have been running errands as well. There are seniors who are disabled or cannot do something and our youth run their errands. If someone cannot go out and do something on their own then our youth try to help them as well.”

Residents can call the toll-free number at 1-855-435-7811 or email to make a request for help.

The previous runs raised over $10,000 for Project Sunrise and to purchase a new ophthalmology microscope for Lloydminster Hospital.
