Lloydminster residents will have several advanced polls to take advantage of this municipal election.
While Election Day will be on November 9th, this election will have seven days of advanced polls, so as to ease congestion and promote physical distancing during the time of COVID-19. All seven days of advanced polling will be at City Hall, and will be spread over a ten-day span from October 24th to November 4th:
- Saturday, October 24th, 2020: 9 AM to 3 PM
- Tuesday, October 27th, 2020: 9 AM to 3 PM
- Wednesday, October 28th, 2020: 9 AM to 3 PM
- Thursday, October 29th, 2020: 9 AM to 3 PM
- Saturday, October 31st, 2020: 9 AM to 3 PM
- Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020: 9 AM to 8 PM
- Wednesday, November 4th, 2020: 9 AM to 3 PM
Regular voting will run from 9 AM to 8 PM on November 9th. There will be three locations to vote on that day, two in the Servus Sports Centre, one in the Mike’s Oilfield Services Fieldhouse and one in the Remax Fieldhouse. The other will be at the Lloydminster Exhibition in the Wild Rose Pavilion. Drive-thru voting will also be available at Bud Miller Park. Mail-in ballots have also been made an option this cycle for anyone wanting to use it.
In total, 18 people are running for council, and eight for the Lloydminster Public School Division. Mayor Gerald Aalbers has been re-elected by acclamation on October 8th, as has the Lloydminster Catholic School Division School Board Trustees.
