The Government of Saskatchewan is lowering gathering limits once again as COVID-19 numbers grow in the province.
The province says there have been many new cases linked to public and private social gatherings, and as a result, the limit on people who can gather in a home or private residence will be lowered to 15. Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Saqib Shahab has amended the Public Health order, and the change will take effect as of Thursday, October 15th at 12:01 AM.
“Even with increasing community transmission rates we still have the power to effect change, to flatten that curve, but it means all residents have to do their part to help keep their friends and family safe,” Shahab said. Shahab is also reminding people to wear masks in areas that make physical distancing challenging, and keep staying home, not holding gatherings, while sick.
The province is also reminding people that there could be fines for people breaking the public health order, which could be up to $2,000 for individuals and $10,000 for corporations, plus a victim surcharge.
There are 34 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on October 13th, with 238 considered active. There are eight active cases in the North-West zone, with four in the Lloydminster Subregion, one in the Battlefords, one in the St.Walburg-Turtleford subregion and two in the Cut Knife-Wilkie area.
A total of 1,911 people have recovered province-wide since the pandemic began.
