Maidstone RCMP are looking for a local man after resisting arrest.

25-year-old, Gavin Howe, has been charged with 6 offences in relation to an incident on New Year’s Eve, in addition to 4 offences on outstanding warrants.

On Thursday, December 31st, an RCMP officer approached a vehicle at a traffic stop and determined the driver had several outstanding warrants from Edmonton Police Service, Lloydminster RCMP and The Battleford’s RCMP. The male was arrested for offences under the Criminal Code and Traffic Safety Act, but before the officers could secure the male from the vehicle, he sped off eastbound to evade Police.  Howe also caused a collision with 2 other vehicles and his vehicle was located a short time later in Maidstone, abandoned.

After the initial traffic stop, neighbourhood checks led to a second Traffic Stop of a different vehicle, where a passenger fled on foot and was believed to be hiding in a residence, but Police searched the residence and did not locate the male.

Howe is not believed to be a danger to the public. If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact Maidstone RCMP at 306-893-4800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Detachment would also like to speak to motorists who had to take evasive action due to the dangerous operation of a red Chevrolet Optra with Alberta plates BPP 9755, on Highway 16 as Howe sped away from a traffic stop.
