Lloydminster, North Battleford voters go to the polls Monday

Both Lloydminster and North Battleford’s electoral races will come to a conclusion on November 9th.

In Lloydminster, there are two races underway, one to decide the six new councillors who will sit for the next four years, and one to find seven people who will sit on the Lloydminster Public School Divison Board. Mayor Gerald Aalbers was previously re-elected by allocation, as was the Lloydminster Catholic School Division Board.

This year’s council candidates include: Aaron Buckingham, Aftab Arif, Bill King, Charles Balenga, Cheryl Ross, Chris Carnell, Darrell Dunn, Dean Segberg, Glenn Fagnan, Jason Whiting, Jonathan Torresan, Lorelee Marin, Michael Diachuk, Rhiannon Greening, Sandy Barrett, Satish Patel, Shawn Davidson and Sheldon Weinrauch.

For the Lloydminster Public School Division, candidates are Cathy Cornet,  Chrissy Gee, Asad Gahavi Kashani, Karoline Kennedy, Melanie Mutter, Viren Tailor, David Thompson and Georgina Veltikold.

Polls will be open from 9 AM to 8PM in Lloydminster, with the unofficial list of winners anticipated Monday night. People will have the option to vote in three locations: At the Mike’s Oilfield Services Fieldhouse or Remax Fieldhouse in Servus Sports Centre, The Wildrose Pavilion at the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association, and, weather permitting, a drive-thru voting at Bud Miller Park, weather permitting.

North Battleford’s mayor, council to be decided Monday

In total, there are five candidates for mayor and thirteen for North Battleford City Council.  Incumbent Mayor Ryan Bater is going up against David Gillan, Lois Laing, Misa Nikolic and James Sieben.

North Battleford Council Candidates include Kelli Hawtin, Valorie Higgs, Thomas “Bill” Ironstand, Clay Lazar, Greg Lightfoot, Kent Lindgren, Ross MacAngus, Dennis Mercer, George Plews, Matthew Parker, Sheldon Rafuse, Len Taylor and Warren Williams.

A full bio of the candidates can be read on the North Battleford Voter Portal. Also there, people can find what they need to vote in the North Battleford municipal election on that portal as well.  In-person voters can cast their ballots on at the Civic Centre Lower Auditorium, 1902 104th Street, from 9AM to 8PM.

Unofficial results for the North Battleford Election will be announced live on Monday, November 9th from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm via Zoom.
