Lakeland College has made changes to its residence and recreation policies, as well as its rules regarding masks.
The changes come after both Saskatchewan and Alberta brought in stricter guidelines in their battles against COVID-19, and the College confirms another case at the Lloydminster campus.
As of now, no visitors will be allowed to come to residencies at either campus. In terms of recreation, all Rustlers practices on the Lloydminster campus have been suspended until the new year. At the Vermilion Recreation Centre, non-family cohorts are no longer allowed in the pool, gymnasium or the weight room. Family cohorts are permitted, but all members must live in the same household. At the Lloydminster campus, anyone using the rec facilities must use a mask at all times.
When it comes to masking, the school has brought in stricter policies. Now, students will be required to all in-person classroom lectures and labs, regardless of whether two-metre physical distancing can be maintained. Previously, this was not required if that distance was available. All previous mask guidelines are in place as well.
One new COVID-19 was also announced in Lakeland’s update. The student was last at the Lloydminster campus on November 17th. The Saskatchewan Health Authority said people who may have been in contact with the student, during a lab the same day, are being contacted but they are considered a non-close contact.
These people are asked to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms until November 30th.
