SHA announces visitor limits at Maidstone Health Complex

In response to an ongoing rise of COVID-19 cases in the area, the Saskatchewan Health Authority has implemented visitor restrictions at the Maidstone Health Complex.

Effective December 5th at 8 AM, visits to the facility will only be allowed on a compassionate care basis. These can include, but are not always limited to, family and support persons during end-of-life care, major surgery, intensive or critical care, maternal or paediatrics care, long-term care residents whose quality of life or care needs are unmet or those inpatients and outpatients with specific challenges.

The SHA says these measures aren’t taken lightly and are needed to protect the public, healthcare workers and patients. These measures will be reassessed by Public Health in four weeks.

Anyone approved to visit the health facility will have a health screening before going in and must wear a medical-grade mask while inside, and other PPE if required. Family members and support people will also not be allowed to wait in waiting rooms or other common areas while the restrictions are in place.

Everyone in the community is also reminded to keep following health guidelines, maintain a two-metre physical distance between others, and self-isolate if any symptoms of COVID-19 develop. People can also call HealthLine 811 for COVID-19 or testing information.

As of the writing of this article, the NorthWest Region 2, which contains Maidstone, sits at 80 active cases, with seven new ones in the last day.
