New Sask. COVID-19 relief rebate unveiled for small businesses

As small businesses in Lloydminster and beyond adapt their working plans around the COVID-19 pandemic, the Saskatchewan Government is introducing another small business support fund.

The province unveiled the Strong Recovery Adaptation Rebate, which they say is designed to help businesses who’ve had to majorly switch their businesses models, such as changing the use of square footage, installing physical infrastructure to comply with COVID-19 mitigation guidelines, and upgrading technology, such as websites, to get their businesses working around the pandemic.

To get the rebate, businesses must have less than 100 employees, have or will have expenses to adapt their business models between April 1, 2020, and February 28, 2021, plan to continue operations and have experienced at least a 30 per cent drop in revenues compared to this time in 2019.

Businesses who meet the requirements for the grant will get a rebate of 50 per cent up to a maximum of $5,000 for a $10,000 expenditure.

The SRAR program will be launched and applications will be available in the coming weeks, with information being available with other business grants on the Saskatchewan Government’s website.
