Construction begins for future home of Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre

Construction has begun at the new home of the Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre.

Ground on the project was broken back in November, and work has been sped up to do favourable weather. The new home was decided earlier in the year, as the city had found through multiple assessments that the LCSC building was deteriorating and was exceeding its serviceable life. As such, it was decommissioned for public use.

“Arts and culture have always played a pivotal role in the growth and enrichment of Lloydminster,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “Our residents, Council and Administration are excited to see the new build come to fruition and open the doors to a facility that offers something for everyone.”

City Council voted in favour of entering a 10-year lease agreement with Musgrave Agencies for the property, also earlier in the year. Work is expected to wrap up in mid-2021.
