The Alberta RCMP says detachments across the province have been modifying some service delivery in the wake of new provincial public health order restrictions.
While front counter services will remain open, modifications and limitations to non-urgent services will be in place for the duration of the public health order.
However, the RCMP stresses that there have been no changes to critical or emergency matters and that people should continue calling 911 if they need help.
Detachments will now have limited occupancy at their physical locations, masking up before entering is mandatory, and while the RCMP says they will not turn away anyone who comes by, some people may be asked to wait outside or in their vehicle, until there’s space in the building to accommodate distancing.
Some services will also be by appointment only. Criminal record checks and vulnerable sector fingerprint services will be limited to essential reasons, but Alberta residents can also access criminal record checks online. For follow up fingerprinting, people will need to reach out to their local detachment, if needed.
The RCMP also reminds people that some crimes can be reported online as well. These guidelines will remain in effect for as long as the Alberta public health order is.
